Move Over Jerry, Here’s David!

On Saturday afternoon, just before halftime, New Hampshire receiver David Ball leaped in the corner of the endzone and came down scoring a touchdown for the 50th time of his career.

Number 50 was the one that tied him with future NFL Hall of Famer Jerry Rice for the top spot in the NCAA record book. Ball should break the record this upcoming weekend at Delaware, so if your in the area, stop by and catch what should be a very big day in New Hampshire sports history.

Dan Shanoff, who formerly wrote ESPNs Daily Quickie column, today has Ball as an honorary selection on his Heisman ballot. The Union Leader in New Hampshire has a story on Ball today about his record tying performance Saturday. The Boston Globe and Boston.com also had a long story about David prior to the Dartmouth game, in the story they quote Rice as saying, “I’m very excited for him,” says Rice. “To be able to break records like that will mean a lot to him. He worked hard and I wish him the best.”
